Polyurethane is a kind of widely used synthetic material, and its industrial production is mainly prepared by the reaction of polyisocyanates and polyols, which usually contain hydroxyl. Polyurethane elastomer: polyurethane elastomer can also be called polyurethane rubber, the so-called elastomer refers to its glass temperature below room temperature, elongation at break >50%, after the removal of external force is relatively good polymer material. Polymer materials whose glass transition temperature is higher than room temperature are called plastics. In elastomers, the elongation at break is larger (such as >200%), the constant elongation stress is smaller (such as <30Mpa), and the elasticity is better. Therefore, elastomers are a more extensive class of polymer materials than rubber, and the definition of elastomers and rubber is not significantly different to a large extent, and in many cases is negative and universal.

 

Polyurethane elastomer is a special kind of elastomer. It has many kinds of raw materials, various formulations and wide adjustable range. Polyurethane elastomers have a wide hardness range, as low as low modulus rubber below shore A10, as high as high modulus shore D85 (much more than the elastic modulus of other types of rubber), impact resistant elastic materials. Therefore, the performance range of polyurethane elastomers is very wide, and it is a class of polymer materials from rubber to plastic.

 

Characteristics of polyurethane elastomers:

 

1. Wear resistance: the wear resistance of polyurethane elastomers is very outstanding, generally about 3-5 times that of natural rubber, enjoying the reputation of "wear-resistant rubber";

 

2. Wide hardness range: the hardness range of polyurethane elastomers can be as low as shore A 10, and the high hardness can reach shore D85;

 

3. High strength: the tensile strength and tearing strength of polyurethane elastomer under the hardness of rubber are much higher than that of general rubber; Under the hardness of plastic, their impact strength and bending modulus are much higher than that of plastic;

 

4. Oil resistance: the oil resistance of polyester polyurethane elastomer is not lower than that of butadiene rubber;

 

5. High bearing capacity: Due to the polyurethane elastomer can improve the hardness under the premise of maintaining rubber elasticity, so as to achieve a higher bearing capacity;

 

6. Low temperature resistance: polyurethane elastomer has good low temperature performance, brittle containment is generally very low (-50-60), some formula varieties catalytic temperature below -60, so polyurethane elastomer products are especially suitable for cold environment;

 

7. Water and mold resistance: Polyether polyurethane has good water and mold resistance.
